Monteverde scores 61.8/100 for digital nomads under balanced weights, ranking 548 of 1000 cities. Expect about $1,700 per month (country-level estimate), a nomad visa (Remote worker and service provider stay (digital nomad permit)), and a measured median download speed of 36.5 Mbps.
Monteverde is a cloud-forest community in Costa Rica's mountains, with the reserve, hanging bridges and zip lines around the small town of Santa Elena at about 1,400 m. It is cool, misty and often windy, prices are high for the size and the drive from San José or Liberia takes 3 hours on partly unpaved roads; nomad facilities amount to a few cafés with good coffee.
