How to apply
Online. Online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, the Directorate General of Immigration's e-visa portal; create an account, apply from anywhere in the world and receive the e-visa by email. The ITAS and re-entry permit issue at the immigration checkpoint on arrival.
- Register an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and select the E33G remote worker visa for a one-year stay.
- Upload your passport (valid at least six months), a recent colour photo, CV and itinerary, plus three months of bank statements showing at least US$2,000.
- Upload your employment contract with the foreign company and bank records proving salary or income of at least US$60,000 a year.
- Pay the Rp7,000,000 immigration fees online and wait about five working days for the visa to be issued by email.

After you arrive
Renewal: The visa gives a one-year stay. The limited stay permit (ITAS) and re-entry permit are issued automatically when you pass immigration, and the permit can be extended online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id; the Directorate does not state a cap on extensions. The visa itself must be used to enter within 90 days of issue.
Residence: The Directorate says the E33G stay permit can be extended and converted to other stay permits, but does not say whether time on it counts toward the permanent stay permit (ITAP), which is normally reached after three consecutive years of ITAS in qualifying categories. Treat a permanent-residence path as unconfirmed.
Taxes
You become an Indonesian tax resident after 183 days in any 12-month period and are then taxed on worldwide income at progressive rates, subject to Indonesia's double-tax treaties and to concessions for foreign residents in their first four years. Register for an NPWP tax number if you become resident and take local advice.
In practice
- The visa is valid for entry for 90 days from issue; if you do not travel in time you must apply and pay again.
- You may not work for Indonesian employers or sell goods or services in Indonesia except as part of your remote job; doing so breaches the permit.
- Canggu and Ubud in Bali have the densest nomad scene and coworking; Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Kuta (Lombok) are cheaper and quieter. Bali immigration enforces visa rules actively.
- Keep the e-visa PDF and proof of onward travel for the airline; the ITAS and re-entry permit are generated electronically at the border and you can download them from the portal.
For your passport
Choose your passport in the ranker and the notes that apply to you move to the top.

- All other passports:Open to all nationalities. A small number of countries on Indonesia's calling-visa list need additional clearance before any visa is issued, which adds time.
