## After you arrive

Stay and renewal: The visa is issued for up to one year; the residence permit you request after arrival is granted for the same period and can be renewed while you still qualify.

Residence: A short-term residence permit does not by itself lead to long-term residence; Türkiye's long-term permit requires eight years of uninterrupted residence under qualifying permits.

Family: The programme does not include family members; spouses and children apply for their own visas and residence permits on family grounds.

Taxes: You become a Turkish tax resident after more than six months in a calendar year and are then taxed on worldwide income at progressive rates, subject to double-tax treaties. Foreign-sourced salary paid by employers with no Turkish presence may be exempt under conditions; take advice.

## In practice

- Nationals of the listed countries can usually enter visa-free or with an e-visa for 90 days in 180, which many nomads use first, but that status cannot be converted into the nomad visa inside Türkiye.
- Residence-permit appointments in Istanbul and Antalya can take weeks; apply as soon as you arrive.
- Rents in Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir are quoted in lira but rise with inflation; budget in dollars.

## By passport

| Passports | Note |
| --- | --- |
| EU, EEA, CH, GB, US, CA | Eligible. Most of these passports also enter visa-free or with an e-visa for 90 days in any 180, so you can scout before applying from home. |
| RU, UA, BY | Eligible for the digital nomad visa; Russian and Ukrainian citizens also enter visa-free for tourism. |
| All other passports | Not eligible for this visa. Alternatives are a short-term tourist residence permit (harder since 2023) or a work or student permit. |
