## Who can apply

Only nationals of countries whose citizens enter Argentina as tourists without a visa, who will provide services remotely by digital means to natural or legal persons domiciled abroad. Nationals who need a tourist visa cannot use this route.

## What you need

- Signed application with personal data and a description of the remote activity you will carry out
- Valid passport (or MERCOSUR travel document) and a recent 4 x 4 cm photo on a white background
- Proof of the remote activity: contract, company endorsement or job request, certifications, or receipts of income or fees from clients abroad
- Short CV showing your experience and level of education, and at least one professional reference
- Proof of regular entry into Argentina (for the in-country application)
- Argentine criminal-record certificate for applicants aged 16 and over (in-country application) and a certificate from your country of origin for the extension
- Proof of address in Argentina
- Legalisation (apostille or consular) and certified Spanish translation of foreign documents

Income proof: The Dirección Nacional de Migraciones sets no minimum income. The initial application is proven with the remote-work contract, company endorsement or job request, certifications or receipts of fees, plus a CV and at least one professional reference. Proof of income earned during the first 180 days is required only for the extension.

Fee: Fee table under Decreto 584/2024: transitory residence other than tourist is 32 UMSM for non-MERCOSUR nationals (16 UMSM for MERCOSUR nationals), and the extension of an article 24(h) transitory residence is 40 UMSM (20 for MERCOSUR). 1 UMSM = ARS 1,000, converted at the BCRA Comunicación A 3500 reference rate of ARS 1,523.09 per US dollar on 2026-10-02. The online entry procedure (TIE 24H) costs 120 consular units; one consular unit is one US dollar under Decreto 266/2000. A paid premium appointment option exists.

Processing: Migraciones does not publish a processing time for this category. The in-country procedure is semi-presential: you request an appointment by email, attend in person and receive the residence certificate; the online entry authorisation arrives by email.

## How to apply

Consulate, then in the country. Online through the TIE 24H electronic entry platform before travelling, or in person at the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones after entering as a tourist (in Buenos Aires request an appointment at asesoramiento@migraciones.gob.ar; elsewhere at the regional delegation). The RaDEX online system is not used for this category and no gestor is needed.

1. Check that your passport is on Argentina's tourist visa-exempt list and gather proof of your remote work: contract, company endorsement or job request, invoices or receipts of fees, plus a short CV and at least one professional reference.
2. Have foreign documents legalised (apostille or Argentine consulate) and translated into Spanish by a certified translator where they are not in Spanish.
3. From abroad: upload the documents, a passport scan and a fresh photo on the TIE 24H platform, pay 120 consular units and wait for the entry authorisation by email, which you show to the immigration officer on arrival.
4. In Argentina: enter as a tourist, obtain the Argentine criminal-record certificate and proof of address, email or visit Migraciones for an appointment, submit the signed application and pay the 32 UMSM fee.
5. Before the 180 days end, request the single extension with proof of the income you earned during the stay, a criminal-record certificate from your country of origin and evidence that you spent at least half the period in Argentina.

## After you arrive

Stay and renewal: Granted for up to 180 days. It can be extended once for the same period if you show income earned from your remote work during the first stay and have spent at least half of that period inside Argentina.

Residence: A transitory residence is not temporary residence, so it does not count toward the two years of temporary residence Argentina normally asks for before permanent residence. To settle you would switch to a temporary residence category (for example MERCOSUR nationality or employment).

Family: Disposición 758/2022 makes no provision for family members. A spouse or children travel on their own status, usually the 90-day visa-free tourist entry, or apply for their own residence category.

Taxes: You become an Argentine tax resident after 12 months of presence (temporary absences of up to 90 days do not interrupt the count), after which worldwide income is taxable at progressive rates. During a 180-day nomad stay you are normally a non-resident taxed only on Argentine-source income; take advice if you extend.

## In practice

- The DNM pages do not state a decision time; the in-person route depends on appointment availability, so start early if you are already in Argentina on the 90-day tourist stay.
- Argentina's nomad residence is cheap and has no income test, but it is a transitory status: it gives no DNI, no path to permanent residence and ends after 12 months at most.
- Fees are set in UMSM and consular units and the peso moves quickly; the dollar figures here are the conversion on 2026-10-04.
- Buenos Aires has by far the largest coworking and nomad scene; Córdoba and Mendoza are cheaper and quieter.

## By passport

| Passports | Note |
| --- | --- |
| EU, EEA, CH, GB, US, CA, AU, NZ, JP | Enter visa-free as tourists for 90 days, so eligible. You can apply online before travelling or convert after arrival; fee 32 UMSM in Argentina or US$120 online. |
| BR, UY, PY, CL, BO, CO, EC, PE, VE, GY, SR | MERCOSUR and associated-state nationals pay the lower 16 UMSM rate, but most are better served by the two-year MERCOSUR temporary residence, which leads to permanent residence. |
| All other passports | Nationals who need a tourist visa for Argentina are not eligible for the digital nomad residence and must use another category (work, study, MERCOSUR nationality or family). |

### Can I apply for the Argentina nomad residence while I am in the country as a tourist?

Yes. The procedure is designed for people who have entered as visa-free tourists: you request an appointment with Migraciones, present the documents in person and pay the fee. There is also an online entry procedure to obtain the authorisation before you travel.
